If you are a gigantic booknerd like me then you are likely already swooning, dreaming, and giddy with glee over the amazing collection of new books coming in 2024. My TBR is almost laughable at this point but I just keep adding books to it! Go big or go home, right? If you have read any of my recent blog posts you will know that 2023 was the year I discovered Contemporary Romance. So, needless to say, my TBR is overflowing with so many incredible titles getting released this year. For the sake of keeping this post readable I have narrowed it down to 10. So, let’s check them out. Here are 10 Contemporary Romance Novels coming in 2024 that I think you will want to add to your TBR. Let’s chat!

For the ease of this post I am going to share these books in order of their release date! This is also by no means a comprehensive list…these are just the ones that I am MOST excited for!!

Bride by Ali Hazelwood

Coming Feb 6th, 2024 we have Bride, the latest novel from Ali Hazelwood. This cover stopped me in my tracks and I needed to immediately know more! Hazelwood is the NYT Bestselling author of Love, Theoretically and The Love Hypothesis…both of which I own and still haven’t read. Did that stop me from adding this to my Top 10 list? Heck no. I have heard such amazing things about her books and promise to read the others before I buy this one. I just had to add this to the list because the premise is just so cool. This is a paranormal romance with a Vampyre bride and a werewolf…it would be wrong of me NOT to include it! Once you read this synopsis you will see what I mean!

Goodreads Synopsis

A dangerous alliance between a Vampyre bride and an Alpha Werewolf becomes a love deep enough to sink your teeth into in this new paranormal romance from the #1 New York Times bestselling author of Love, Theoretically and The Love Hypothesis.

Misery Lark, the only daughter of the most powerful Vampyre councilman of the Southwest, is an outcast—again. Her days of living in anonymity among the Humans are over: she has been called upon to uphold a historic peacekeeping alliance between the Vampyres and their mortal enemies, the Weres, and she sees little choice but to surrender herself in the exchange—again…

Weres are ruthless and unpredictable, and their Alpha, Lowe Moreland, is no exception. He rules his pack with absolute authority, but not without justice. And, unlike the Vampyre Council, not without feeling. It’s clear from the way he tracks Misery’s every movement that he doesn’t trust her. If only he knew how right he was….

Because Misery has her own reasons to agree to this marriage of convenience, reasons that have nothing to do with politics or alliances, and everything to do with the only thing she’s ever cared about. And she is willing to do whatever it takes to get back what’s hers, even if it means a life alone in Were territory…alone with the wolf.

The Other Side of Disappearing by Kate Clayborn

Next up we have The Other Side of Disappearing by Kate Clayborn. Publishing on March 26th, 2024, this is the newest Contemporary Romance from the author of one of my faves from last year, Georgie, All Along. Georgie was such a great read. I fell in love with Kate Clayborn’s characters and her writing style and the premise of this book sounds fabulous. I am a sucker for a road trip and this one sounds fantastic. I’m really hoping for more endearing and relatable characters and the witty banter that I loved so much in Georgie, All Along!

Goodreads Synopsis

Hairstylist Jess Greene has spent the last decade raising her younger half-sister, Tegan—and keeping a shocking secret. Ever since their reckless mother ran off with a boyfriend she’d known only a few months, Jess has been aware that he’s the same accomplished con man who was the subject of a wildly popular podcast, The Last Con of Lynton Baltimore.

Now thirty-one, Jess didn’t bargain on Tegan eventually piecing together the connection for herself. But Tegan plans to do exactly what Jess has always feared—leave their safe, stable home to search for their mother—and she’ll be accompanied by the prying podcast host and her watchful, handsome producer, Adam Hawkins. Unwilling to let the sister she’s spent so much of her life protecting go it alone, Jess reluctantly joins them.

Together, the four make their way across the country, unraveling the mystery of where the couple disappeared to and why. But soon Jess is discovering other things too. Like a renewed sense of vulnerability and curiosity, and a willingness to expand beyond the walls she’s so carefully built. And in Adam, she finds an unexpected connection she didn’t even know was missing, if only she can let go and let him in . . .

The Rule Book by Sarah Adams

Can you hear me squealing? Last year I read and fell in love with The Perfect Match by Sarah Adams. It wasn’t her first book, but it was the first book of hers that I read and I just loved every single thing about it. So when I saw that she has a new book releasing on April 2nd, 2024 I did what any sensible booknerd would do, I immediately went to Goodreads and added it to my TBR and then Amazon and added it to my wishlist. Want to know what I discovered? The Rule Book is a highly anticipated companion novel to The Cheat Sheet…which I haven’t read. This is what happens when you are late to the game…there is a backlog of books to read before you can snag the new ones. But, I am a dedicated booknerd so I will make this happen. Cheat Sheet has been added to my TBR!

Just for the Summer by Abby Jimenez

April 2nd, 2024 is a popular day for books. Also releasing is Just for the Summer by Abby Jimenez. I just finished my first Abby Jimenez novel earlier this month and I absolutely adored her writing. When you think of Contemporary Romance novels, her name comes up a lot…and for good reason. She writes amazing banter, fabulous characters, and her books are just incredible. My summer and beach loving self also loves the beachy warm vibes of this cover! So excited for this one!

Goodreads Synopsis

Justin has a curse, and thanks to a Reddit thread, it’s now all over the internet. Every woman he dates goes on to find their soul mate the second they break up. When a woman slides into his DMs with the same problem, they come up with a plan: They’ll date each other and break up. Their curses will cancel each other’s out, and they’ll both go on to find the love of their lives. It’s a bonkers idea… and it just might work.

Emma hadn’t planned that her next assignment as a traveling nurse would be in Minnesota, but she and her best friend agree that dating Justin is too good of an opportunity to pass up, especially when they get to rent an adorable cottage on a private island on Lake Minnetonka.

It’s supposed to be a quick fling, just for the summer. But when Emma’s toxic mother shows up and Justin has to assume guardianship of his three siblings, they’re suddenly navigating a lot more than they expected–including catching real feelings for each other. What if this time Fate has actually brought the perfect pair together?

Funny Story by Emily Henry

You may have heard the next author’s name once or twice when discussing Contemporary Romance. Emily Henry? Yep, THAT Emily Henry. Book Lovers, People We Meet on Vacation, Beach Read…etc, etc, etc. She is back at it again with her newest book coming on April 23rd, 2024. Funny Story sounds like an absolutely incredible Rom-Com…which is Emily Henry’s specialty. Her books are hysterical, quick witted, and full of fantastic chemistry. I’m kinda hoping this gets added as a Book of the Month selection for April…sending that out into the atmosphere to manifest itself! Come on BOTM Gods and Goddesses!

Goodreads Synopsis

Daphne always loved the way her fiancé Peter told their story. How they met (on a blustery day), fell in love (over an errant hat), and moved back to his lakeside hometown to begin their life together. He really was good at telling it…right up until the moment he realized he was actually in love with his childhood best friend Petra.

Which is how Daphne begins her new story: Stranded in beautiful Waning Bay, Michigan, without friends or family but with a dream job as a children’s librarian (that barely pays the bills), and proposing to be roommates with the only person who could possibly understand her predicament: Petra’s ex, Miles Nowak.

Scruffy and chaotic—with a penchant for taking solace in the sounds of heart break love ballads —Miles is exactly the opposite of practical, buttoned up Daphne, whose coworkers know so little about her they have a running bet that she’s either FBI or in witness protection. The roommates mainly avoid one another, until one day, while drowning their sorrows, they form a tenuous friendship and a plan. If said plan also involves posting deliberately misleading photos of their summer adventures together, well, who could blame them?

But it’s all just for show, of course, because there’s no way Daphne would actually start her new chapter by falling in love with her ex-fiancé’s new fiancée’s ex…right?

This Summer Will Be Different by Carley Fortune

There is a 100% chance that I have already pre-ordered this book. I absolutely fell in love with Carley Fortune’s writing last year after reading Meet Me at the Lake. She writes such amazing characters, settings, descriptions, banter, all of the things. Meet Me at the Lake was the book that really got me interested in Contemporary Romance novels so I immediately added This Summer Will Be Different to my Amazon cart! So excited for this one to arrive…it publishes on May 7, 2024!

Goodreads Synopsis

Lucy is the tourist vacationing at a beach house on Prince Edward Island. Felix is the local who shows her a very good time. The only problem: Lucy doesn’t know he’s her best friend’s younger brother. Lucy and Felix’s chemistry is unreal, but the list of reasons why they need to stay away from each other is long, and they vow to never repeat that electric night again.

It’s easier said than done.

Each year, Lucy escapes to PEI for a big breath of coastal air, fresh oysters and crisp vinho verde with her best friend, Bridget. Every visit begins with a long walk on the beach, beneath soaring red cliffs and a golden sun. And every visit, Lucy promises herself she won’t wind up in Felix’s bed. Again.

If Lucy can’t help being drawn to Felix, at least she’s always kept her heart out of it.

When Bridget suddenly flees Toronto a week before her wedding, Lucy drops everything to follow her to the island. Her mission is to help Bridget through her crisis and resist the one man she’s never been able to. But Felix’s sparkling eyes and flirty quips have been replaced with something new, and Lucy’s beginning to wonder just how safe her heart truly is.

The Rom-Commers by Katherine Center

Katherine Center is one of my new favorite authors. She is a master in this genre and I am so excited to read The Rom-Commers which is publishing June 11th, 2024. I have to be honest…I am seriously contemplating pre-ordering this one from Amazon because of the gorgeous special edition they have with sprayed edges. The only thing holding me back is that I would bet money that this book will be a Book of the Month selection for June. Katherine Center is another author who writes absolutely amazing chemistry. Her books are funny, charming, and so easy to read. I adored Hello Stranger…it was one of my favorite reads from 2023! The Rom-Commers already has rave reviews on Goodreads and I just can’t wait to read it!

Goodreads Synopsis

Emma Wheeler desperately longs to be a screenwriter. She’s spent her life studying, obsessing over, and writing romantic comedies—good ones! That win contests! But she’s also been the sole caretaker for her kind-hearted dad, who needs full-time care. Now, when she gets a chance to re-write a script for famous screenwriter Charlie Yates—The Charlie Yates! Her personal writing god!—it’s a break too big to pass up.

Emma’s younger sister steps in for caretaking duties, and Emma moves to L.A. for six weeks for the writing gig of a lifetime. But what is it they say? Don’t meet your heroes? Charlie Yates doesn’t want to write with anyone—much less “a failed, nobody screenwriter.” Worse, the romantic comedy he’s written is so terrible it might actually bring on the apocalypse. Plus! He doesn’t even care about the script—it’s just a means to get a different one green-lit. Oh, and he thinks love is an emotional Ponzi scheme.

But Emma’s not going down without a fight. She will stand up for herself, and for rom-coms, and for love itself. She will convince him that love stories matter—even if she has to kiss him senseless to do it. But . . . what if that kiss is accidentally amazing? What if real life turns out to be so much . . . more real than fiction? What if the love story they’re writing breaks all Emma’s rules—and comes true?

Business Casual by B.K. Borison

Mark your calendars for July 16th, 2024. The newest installment in the Lovelight Farms series is arriving and I could not be more excited. Business Casual by B.K. Borison is the 4th book and it has already received such amazing reviews. I asked my pals over on Threads to recommend a cozy book and nearly everyone shouted LOVELIGHT FARMS. So, naturally I bought it, binge read it, swooned, fell in love, and ordered Book 2. Like one does. It was such a warm, cozy, and perfectly atmospheric book. I have Book 2 sitting on my desk right now just begging to be read…and I am going to start that one as soon as I finish my current read! So excited for the rest of this series!

Goodreads Synopsis

Two opposites will find out if one night together is enough to get each other out of their systems in the final book in the beloved Lovelight series.

Nova Porter isn’t looking for love, and she certainly has no explanation for her attraction to buttoned-up, three-piece-suit-wearing investment banker Charlie Milford. Maybe it’s his charm? Or maybe it’s his determination to help her fledgling business however he can. Either way, she’s distracted every time he’s around. With her new tattoo studio set to open in her hometown of Inglewild, she doesn’t have time for frivolous flirtations.

In an effort to get Charlie out of her system once and for all, Nova offers a proposition. One night. No strings. They’ll kick their uncomfortable attraction to the curb and return to their respective responsibilities. But their explosive night together scatters their expectations like fallen leaves. And with Charlie in town as the temporary head of Lovelight Farms, Nova can’t quite avoid him.

And Charlie? Well, Charlie knows a good investment when he sees one. He’s hoping he can convince Nova he’s worth some of her time.

The Break-Up Pact by Emma Lord

I just finished my first book by Emma Lord and I loved it. It was a YA book called The Getaway List and it was absolutely adorable. Coming August 13th, 2024 is what I believe to be her debut adult novel! The Break-Up Pact promises to have the same wit and charm that her other books have and I love the premise of this one. To be honest…the book sold me with the “beachside tea shop”…I am a sucker for a beachside setting and this sounds perfect. This sounds like the perfect balance of fake dating, friends to ex-friends to lovers and I am all in! Plus the cover is adorable!

Goodreads Synopsis

Two best friends who haven’t spoken in ten years pretend to date after break-ups with their respective exes go viral, in this delightfully fun and deeply emotional new novel from New York Times bestselling author Emma Lord.

June and Levi were best friends as teenagers—until the day they weren’t. Now June is struggling to make rent on her beachside tea shop, Levi is living a New York cliché as a disillusioned hedge fund manager and failed novelist, and they’ve barely spoken in years.

But after they both experience public, humiliating break-ups with their exes that spread like wildfire across TikTok rabbit holes and daytime talk shows alike, they accidentally make some juicy gossip of their own—a photo of them together has the internet convinced they’re a couple. With so many people rooting for them, they decide to put aside their rocky past and make a pact to fuel the fire. Pretending to date will help June’s shop get back on its feet and make Levi’s ex realize that she made a mistake. All they have to do is convince the world they’re in love, one swoon-worthy photo opp at a time.

Two viral break-ups. One fake relationship. Five sparkling, heart-pounding dates. June and Levi can definitely pull this off without their hearts getting involved. Because everyone knows fake dating doesn’t come with real feelings. Right?

A Witch’s Guide to Magical Inkeeping by Sangu Mandanna

Last, but absolutely not least is A Witch’s Guide to Magical Innkeeping by Sangu Mandanna. The fact that this book doesn’t come out until September 10th, 2024 has me moderately sad. I am going to have to find a way to get my hands on it early because I must have it. First of all…loooook at that cover. Stunning. Second…I absolutely ADORED The Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches. Adored. I am a sucker for a book that has magic woven throughout the pages and Sangu Mandanna does magic so well. I also must have a secret desire to run an inn because I can’t get enough of books like this! Can we look at this cover one more time…swoon.

Goodreads Synopsis

An enchanting novel about a witch who has a second chance to get her magical powers—and her life—back on track, from the national bestselling author of The Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches .

Sera Swan was once one of the most powerful witches in Britain. Then she resurrected her great-aunt Jasmine from the (very recently) dead, lost most of her magic, befriended a semi-villainous talking fox, and was exiled from her magical Guild. Now she ( slightly reluctantly and a bit grumpily) helps Aunt Jasmine run an inn in Lancashire, where she deals with her quirky guest’s shenanigans, tries to keep the talking fox in check, and longs for the magical future she lost.

When she learns about an old spell book that could hold the secret to restoring her power, she finds herself turning to Luke Larsen, a gorgeous and icy historian who might be the only person who can help her unlock the book’s mysteries. The fact that he also happens to be her one-night stand from years ago is totally irrelevant.

Running an inn, reclaiming lost magic, and trying not to fall in love is a lot for anyone, but Sera is about to discover that she doesn’t have to do it alone…and that the weird, wonderful family she’s made might be the best magic of all.
