New Year…New Name!

Can you believe that I started Homeschool by the Beach almost 5 years ago?? I know I can’t! When I first started this blog I did so as a way for me to share what we were doing in our homeschool, as well as our new life here in Florida. It was also a creative outlet for me to write and connect with people. As my kids have gotten older I have noticed a shift in the content I share here. I began sharing more about books than I did about homeschool. Posts sharing book recommendations are truly the ones that bring me the most joy. So I decided to take the plunge and re-brand everything! Homeschool by the Beach is now Beaches and Reads…and I couldn’t be happier!

Why Beaches and Reads?

Choosing a new name was so daunting! I knew that if I was going to do this re-brand that I only wanted to do it once! So I knew I needed a name that would not only represent what I share now, but what I want to keep sharing in the future! I asked for advice and thoughts from my husband, kids, family, friends, strangers, dogs on the street…everyone! That may have not been the best idea lol. Once you start throwing names around it gets confusing…and opinion-y. So I finally just asked myself…what are the things that truly make me happy? What am I passionate about writing and posting about.

Beaches and Books. There it is. My favorite things. (I mean…obvs the hubby and kids too but…).

Obviously Books by the Beach was the direction my brain went first…because it would be such a quick change! Well, that name was taken! So…Beaches and Reads was born. It felt weird at first…but now I am so glad that I chose this name!

Plans for the Blog

So, what does this mean for the blog? Well, I am really hoping to share lots of amazing book reviews in this space. I have been a terribly inconsistent blogger. I got sucked into the Instagram Universe and things were fantastic. My following began to grow and I was making wonderful connections and had amazing engagement…HAD. Like many others I have been a victim of the infamous IG Algorithm. It bums me out…but…I am going to re-focus my time and energy here again…with maybe a little Pinterest action thrown in.

Oh…and the Beaches part of Beaches and Reads? I am really hoping to share some great Florida travel posts in the coming months. We spend so much time on the beach and visiting the many State Parks and Nature Preserves that Florida has to offer…and I want to keep sharing that here! What does it have to do with books? Probably not much…but thats ok! I am going to share the things that I am passionate about and that bring me joy…and I want you to READ the things that bring you joy. So, if Florida travel and beaches aren’t your jam…totally cool…I will have plenty of bookish goodness to peruse!

What Do You Want To See?

So, what do you guys want to see here? What kinds of posts do you enjoy reading? I really would love to know the kinds of things you come to blog posts for!

Also…newsletter? Yay or Nay? I would love to start putting together a weekly or every other week newsletter as a sort of wrap up of what is going on here. That way you are always in the loop about what I am sharing! Let me know if this is something you would like to see!

As for homeschool content…I will still share some things occasionally. As I mentioned, my kids are getting older and our days look a lot different than they used to. But, it is still something that I am super passionate about and it is still a huge part of our life so I can’t totally vote it off the island, ya know? But, it will probably be very minimal…and pretty selective!

OK, that’s it! Welcome to Beaches and Reads! I am so glad you are here! Let me know if you have any questions! You can reach me anytime at beachesandreads
