Creative Writing Freebie!!
Let’s talk about creative writing! We don’t use a fancy or formal creative writing curriculum. We mostly just write. That’s it. Putting ideas onto paper and watching them go! I love seeing where my kids’ imaginations take them! Lately, I have been experimenting with some different creative writing “prompts”. Just some fun ideas for the kids to expand upon. I would love to start sharing some of them with you guys! So, how about a freebie?!? Sound good? The Door… So the first prompt I came up with for the kids came about from a story I had written back in Junior High. I know what you are thinking…how on…

Prevent “Summer Slide” with Daily Summer Activities from Evan-Moor
Have you ever heard of the dreaded summer slide? As year-round homeschoolers, it is something we have hoped to avoid. I remember when we first started our homeschooling journey, we had A LOT to re-learn after our summer break! When you aren’t actively putting to use the things you have learned, they tend to slip further back into your mind and it can take a while to dig them out! Daily Summer Activities from Evan-Moor is an INCREDIBLE tool to help fight that learning loss of the summer months! Though we are year-round homeschoolers, we follow a less rigorous summer schedule. Daily Summer Activities is going to be the perfect…

The 7 Continents: North America I *just* discovered the 7 Continents series from Evan-Moor and it is wonderful! As I mentioned above, we are learning all about the countries of the world this year! I let the…

Give the Gift of Poetry Tea Time
My kids love Poetry Teatime! If you have been in the homeschooling game for more than a minute you will likely have heard about the fabulosity that is Poetry Teatime! If you haven’t heard of it, never you fear…check out this wonderful description over at the Brave Writer website! Poetry Teatime is the brainchild of the amazing Julie Bogart, creator of Brave Writer! In an effort to be more mindful with my gift giving this holiday season, I have come up with some practical but hopefully fun gifts for our kids. Since they LOVE Poetry Teatime so much I decided I would create a box of goodies that will add…

Our Review of Evan-Moor Skill Sharpeners Science Grade 4
I am so excited to be reviewing Evan-Moor Skill Sharpeners Science Grade 4! As a homeschooling Mama of 3 kiddos, I am always on the lookout for lessons that I can teach as a whole group! There just aren’t enough hours in the day to create individual instruction in EVERY subject! Some subjects lend themselves much better to group instruction than others…and science just happens to be one of those! Confession time? Science is NOT my strong suit. If I could teach History, Geography, and Reading ALL day, I would do it in a heartbeat! It’s not that I don’t love science, or find it fascinating…it just isn’t my area of…
